For some reason,

when my mom comes to town, BW always wants to do home improvement projects and make the house nice before she comes. I guess that means he likes my mom and wants to impress her but what does that make me, road kill? Totally kidding. But my dearest mommy is coming Friday (YAY!!!) I guess going the whole month of July without seeing BL was just too much for her:) I'm ok with that.

So yesterday after work BW calls me up and tells me to start taping off the hall bathroom. At the end of the evening we had a great result. An almost complete room:) There are so many partially done rooms in my house it makes me crazy. I don't really have the money to really make it mine because that would include new flooring ($$) and furniture ($$$). So in the meantime I buy cheap transitional stuff that will go with what we have now. Mostly it's frustrating because I feel like my house doesn't reflect my style. So anyways:) Here is our bathroom!

I'm a little jealous now because this is the guest bathroom and it's way prettier than my bathroom... The cut in work in this bathroom took SO LONG! Do you see this tiny space between the medicine cabinet and the mirror?

Here's the close up.

I like to call it my nemesis. I tackled it with some Qtips. That's right people, I'm a hard core perfectionist. Sometimes.

A few days ago I started chipping out the caulk in our master shower. I did NOT know how difficult it is to do that. And time consuming. It is now done. And beautiful. And white. Enjoy.

The doorknobs. Not what I had hoped but at least I did a test knob on the most frequently used door in the house. The pantry. You know it is in your house too, don't lie. I think for the next knobs I need to do thinner coats and use a sealant of some kind. Eventually I'll redo that knob and see.

Edited to add: After I started thinking about this painting project I realized this is the first project BW and I have done together that went flawlessly. We usually struggle because we have such different work styles. He likes to do things the quick and easy way and I could spend hours or days trying to make things perfect. It actually works to our advantage with painting. He gets the roller and I get the brush. Voila, balance... on painting projects that is.

Great work! I totally feel your pain in that spot between the mirror and the medicine cabinet... between the two bathrooms I've done in the last few months, I had to do four of those!!!! UGH!!! I thought I was going to tear my hair out, but I must be more like BW because I slopped it on and then wiped the messy paint slops off the mirror. It was easier for me that way!

Great job! It looks awesome! We tackeled the nursery this week - it turned out great, but it was a lot of work! :) I feel your pain!

That looks great! jake is the perfectionist in our house. He always pulls out the little kids water color paint brushes and does touch ups with that.

I didn't know BW wanted to paint for me. How sweet! It looked great. Q-tips? really? The color is great and makes the flooring look good. And yes I had a great time with you and sweet BL. I need another DANCE! Hope you are feeling better.
