The other night I was going

to bed far too late, BL woke up screaming his two year old head off. I took him into my room and sat on my bed trying to get comfortable and comfort him. He quickly settled down but I still had to get ready for bed. Laying next to daddy wasn't going to cut it so he threw himself on the floor and settled into the clothes and pillows. When I got back from getting ready for bed this is what I found.

Don't be jealous my pile of clothes is bigger than yours. I know it's hard not to be.

He looked so sweet I didn't want to move him. That or I didn't want to deal with getting him to fall asleep again, in his own bed. That usually includes me falling asleep on the floor next to his bed and waking up sore a few hours later.

So I shoved my clothes out of the way and made one layer of pillows. It was kind of tricky while still keeping him asleep but he slept the rest of the night without a peep and I didn't have to forfeit half of the bed to him. Actually it's more like half or three quarters of my half of the bed. BW never budges.

That hasn't been his only incidence of getting up in the middle of the night lately. Just this past week I woke up to him coming in at 3 am and saying "Mom, I need a towel." He knows when he makes a mess he has to clean it up, that's why he asked for the towel. So I knew he had done something, but I didn't care. I pulled him in bed and told him to go to sleep. When BW got up in the morning he found that BL had spilled a full cup of water all over the ottoman and floor. Lovely.

How am I supposed to get him to stay in bed???

We have a door knob cover on mb's door. He figured out how to open it so it has been packing taped to death to hold it together. He doesn't come out now. My in-laws had to put a latch on the outside of one of the boys doors because he would walk down the stairs in the middle of the night and open the front door and go outside... Is it hereditary to have very large piles of clothes on the floor... I think our matching piles is just more proof we are related. ;)

He is so adorable. I want to squish him.

when you figure it out let me know... we have those darn handles on our doors that are next to impossible to baby proof! I wake up almost every night at some point while Brayden climbs in my bed and I'm always too tired to care until 2 hours later when I've gotten bruises in my ribs from him kicking me all night long!

oooh, oooh I know! Start storing your dirty laundry in his bed...looks like it offers him just the right level of firmness AND comfort.

and it will get those clothes off your floor ;)

I did the same thing as CQ with Nora. She was practically hysterical at first and even fell asleep behind the door a time or two. She does ok now. Good luck!

ew, they weren't dirty clothes. they were clean clothes that didn't quite make it into their respective locations. It's still a mess just not a dirty one:)

It makes me giggle when I get up in the mornings and he's already awake or has fallen asleep on the couch by the remote...this kid is hilarious! I have to show you a picture I took of him the other morning hehe

First of all, I HATE laundry.

Secondly, we are having the same issue with Max. I finally told him that if he can stay in his bed for 7 days that I will buy him ANY toy he wants. I'm that desperate for a good night sleep. We are on day 2 - so far so good.

Make sure the house is secure. I'd hate for him to take a walk. Try some bungee cords or a net.
